Eleven-year-old James M was at Percy Quinn State Park in Mississippi when his younger brother Mike stepped into an underwater hole and began drowning. James went to help but also stepped in the hole. Mike panicked and climbed on top of James, pushing him underwater. James saw bubbles float before his eyes and realized he was going to die. Upon accepting death, all pain went away and he floated up toward a pulling light. He turned and could see the beach where they had been swimming, observing people including himself sitting down. He felt like a wisp of smoke being drawn back to his physical body. As he approached and slid into his body, the pain returned. His Uncle Carl had pulled them both from the water and told them not to tell their parents. James experienced incredible peace, heightened consciousness, and unity with the universe during the experience.
