James C experienced cardiac arrest on May 16, 1996, after multiple previous heart attacks and surgeries. He was clinically dead for 5.5 minutes when his heart stopped while waiting for emergency services. During this time, he had an out-of-body experience where he could see activities in different parts of the house - his son and niece in a tent, his wife and sister-in-law in the kitchen, and medical personnel working on his body. He followed a light and experienced a life review showing traumatic events from his past. He entered a beautiful field with the greenest grass and most colorful flowers he had ever seen. Four people approached him, including his deceased grandparents. His grandmother, appearing younger and with all her body parts restored (she had died at 98-99 with one leg), communicated telepathically that it wasn't his time. He stood in the peaceful light before being sent back. After resuscitation, he remained in a coma until May 21-22, observing his surroundings while unconscious.
