At age three, Hanne fell from a fourth-floor window onto concrete tiles, suffering a fractured skull. She was declared "stone dead" by doctors. During this time, she experienced leaving her body and observing the scene from above, seeing her mother, aunt, and many people leaning over her "empty shell" with an ambulance nearby. She then zoomed out and up, past rooftops and chimneys, until she found herself among thousands of stars and spiraling galaxies in a royal blue night sky. She became one with all consciousness, feeling extreme happiness and unity with the whole. She appeared as pure light wearing a floating garment and pointed hat, with stars springing from her hands to join the firmament. Though only three, she felt ancient and wise during the experience. When she returned to consciousness in the hospital, she felt that waking up was less thrilling than the NDE. She kept the experience secret for years, eventually telling her mother as a teenager when she learned she had been declared dead. The experience left her with heightened sensitivity, healing energies that others feel, and strong intuitive abilities. She has occasionally experienced the bliss of her NDE through meditation. The experience gave her deep knowledge that death is merely dimensional transition, comparing it to transformation from caterpillar to butterfly.
