Gwen P experienced cardiac arrest during severe childbirth complications involving pneumonia and organ failure. Eight medical professionals worked to resuscitate her after her heart stopped, with her body being lifted off the cart multiple times during resuscitation efforts. During this time, she found herself in a tunnel and encountered a brilliant white light with touches of gold that radiated wonderful warmth. She recognized this presence as God and communicated with Him non-verbally, experiencing loving and kind thoughts, though she cannot recall the specific content. She begged to return because of concern for her four-year-old daughter, and her request was granted. After returning to her body, she experienced an out-of-body state where she floated above her body on the ceiling and observed two doctors enter her room. One told the other they thought they had lost her, and the other asked what they did, to which the first replied "We didn't give up - we just kept working on her." Neither doctor suspected she had overheard their conversation. Following this experience, she no longer fears death and has been more sensitive and merciful toward others. She went on to have two more healthy children despite being told she would never have more children and couldn't get life insurance at thirty because she wasn't expected to live long.
