Delia had been coughing up blood for four days before being admitted to the hospital on December 25, 1982. A lung specialist determined the bleeding was coming from her right lung and performed a biopsy, after which she went into cardiac arrest. She experienced going through a tunnel with wonderful chimes that felt like pink cotton candy, leading to a bright white/blue light at the end. She encountered a wonderful being who told her she could not stay because she had to take care of her children, mother, and others who would need her assistance.
When brought back by doctors, she was crying and sobbing, feeling very sad because she had left what she felt was her true home. The experience included profound peace, heightened senses, a mystical light, and communication with a spiritual being. She saw a beautiful landscape with manicured lawns, trees, and flowers. The emotional impact was tremendous - she felt incredible peace and joy during the experience but deep sadness upon return.
