Bonnie experienced an NDE during a severe case of sepsis in May 2001. She had been suffering from neck and shoulder spasms for about two days and nearly stopped breathing. Upon losing consciousness, she found herself floating upward, completely free from the chronic pain she had endured for five years.
The most striking aspect of her experience was encountering an intensely bright, warm light with a yellow hue. Though she noted that such brightness would normally blind someone, this light was simultaneously warm and calming. She could hear unfamiliar voices that initially were unclear but eventually communicated that it wasn't her time to return. Despite wanting to stay in this peaceful state, she was sent back. After recovering, Bonnie experienced the phenomenon again during another illness when she saw an angel with the same yellow/hue glow.
