Dan experienced anaphylactic shock after receiving an injection at a doctor's office. Within seconds, his sight was obliterated and he rushed down what appeared to be a tunnel of red blood cells at high speed, accompanied by loud buzzing sounds moving from ear to ear. His heart rate exceeded 200 bpm and he was paralyzed from the hips down. Amid the chaos, a serene part of his consciousness observed events calmly, like watching a storm on TV with the sound off. He experienced a powerful sense of his spirit as fire - alive and roaring into life while his body was dying. Above him appeared a strange window of brittle frosted glass with bright white light beyond it. He knew he could choose to go through it but would not return. Seeing his mother in the corner and knowing leaving would break her, he decided to stay and yelled "God, please save me!" The event instantly ceased as a nurse stood ready to inject his heart with adrenaline.
