Curt, a theater actor, collapsed at a wrap party in April 1976 after being awake for 30 hours. He experienced severe symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, difficulty breathing, and extreme cold despite warm temperatures. Other actors carried him to a car and drove him to the hospital. Though unable to move or speak, he could hear and understand everything. In the ER, he experienced intense pain - all sensations were magnified, sounds were deafening. Suddenly while taking a breath, possibly oxygen kicking in, he felt his body expanding and became warm. Things became quiet and pain ceased. He floated toward the ceiling and looked down at his body on the table, noting how skinny he looked at 130 pounds. He heard a doctor say "Oh sh@#! We're losing him!" and saw the doctor pound on his chest to restart his heart. He tried to say "Don't hurt him" referring to his body as separate from himself. He closed his eyes and floated on his back in a pale green fog, sensing something wonderful "down and to the right" (southwest direction). He experienced a complete life review at incredible speed, reliving his entire life on multiple levels simultaneously. Suddenly he slammed back into his body with pain, lights, and sounds returning. He spent the night hospitalized and slept for reportedly 40 hours afterward. The experience left him angry about being "cheated" from discovering the wonderful place, but also more aware and cherishing life without fearing death.
