Cory went body surfing with friends in 1962 and was caught in a current. As he was pulled under the pounding surf, he struggled to breathe, choking on salt water rushing into his nose and mouth. After fighting for air, he began to relax and feel at peace, slowly sinking peacefully. Then he looked down and saw himself below, wanting to close his eyes and sleep. Something urged him to try one more time. When he reached the surface, water exploded from his nose and mouth. Next to him appeared a boy with dark blue eyes who helped him return to shore by having Cory place a hand on his shoulder. Cory ended up on the beach coughing intensely. His friends pointed at him but said he had swum in alone - no one else saw the blue-eyed boy who helped him. Cory returned to the beach multiple times but never saw the mysterious helper again. The experience gave him a sense that dolphins are sacred and left him with recurring dreams of swimming with dolphins. He later had a feeling to go outside at a hotel Christmas party, suggesting ongoing psychic sensitivity.
