Fifteen-year-old Colin was hit by a car and sustained severe head injuries in July 1980. He found himself conscious in a tunnel moving rapidly upward toward a point of light. Reaching the tunnel's end, he faced tremendously brilliant light that didn't hurt to look at. He had no body but glowed dimly compared to the brilliant being of light. At his deepest anguish, he found himself back in the tunnel with light fading, then entered a void with complete nothingness. He had no body of light and couldn't move despite being fully conscious. After fighting the hardest fight he could remember, he awoke in a hospital bed. The experience led to twenty years of searching for meaning, including travel, drugs, and prison before finding spirituality. He saw glimpses of Hell as ultimate clarity about wasted opportunities and selfishness.
