On June 11, 1986, CJ was stabbed and required emergency surgery. During the operation, she experienced an NDE where she found herself in a large, vacant, dimly lit warehouse-like room where she knew she was to wait. She noticed an arched castle-like doorway across the room with gray stone walls that rotated slowly clockwise. A pale yellow light filled the tunnel that became golden and bright at the far end. The light had a gentle, friendly, non-threatening quality. She knew it was okay to go there if needed and felt no fear. She felt the presence of others though she couldn't see them. She received non-verbal communication that the damage had been repaired and she was going back, which relieved her as the doctor had expressed uncertainty about being able to fix her injuries. Medical details: stabbed in first and second intercostal spaces on left, chipped clavicle bone, separated left shoulder, mediastinal shift with heart pushed into right chest by massive hemorrhage, 3.5 units of blood removed from left chest, approximately 15 major vessels severed including internal mammary. She remained conscious until medicated and informed the anesthesiologist of her mediastinal shift.
