During a 1992 tubing accident behind a boat, Cindy M fell off and was underwater with severe head pain, fearing she had hit another person's hip. She thought she was drowning and didn't want to pass out underwater. She then experienced an out-of-body experience, initially seeing a crane and thinking someone had drowned. From above, she observed her own body in the water and recognized it was herself. She saw a beautiful bright light and an angel who told her it was time to go back. Despite not wanting to return, she felt herself drop back into her body and had to swim up from what seemed like a long distance underwater. The experience included heightened consciousness, incredibly vivid senses, time distortion, and telepathic communication with the angelic being. She felt incredible peace, joy, and unity with the universe during the experience.
