Around 1972, Bonnie was at the dentist trying nitrous oxide for the first time during dental work. She had very low blood pressure (80/60) when the procedure began. Suddenly everything went black, then she saw a radiant, indescribably brilliant light and was whisked down a tunnel at incredible speed. Faceless figures lined both sides of the tunnel, reaching out as if wanting to touch her, communicating telepathically with each other in a mental chatter. Though she couldn't identify them, they seemed familiar and appeared to know her. Despite wanting to stay in the incredible brightness and feeling of love and joy, she kept thinking about her young children, communicating mentally "my children, my children, I need to go back." She was affirmed with understanding and suddenly raced backwards through the tunnel. She awoke to hear the nurse saying "I have a pulse and pressure now" after being without vital signs for about 3 minutes. The experience left her feeling extremely weak but eliminated any fear of death.
