On February 16, 1977, Bunny was kidnapped and brutally attacked with a tire iron after being run off the road. She was left for dead at the base of a mountain in sixteen degrees below zero weather. During the attack, she was taken out of her body and wrapped in an incredible feeling of power and peace that she identified as God. She felt completely light, free, and pain-free in God's arms. God asked if she wanted to stay on earth or go with Him. She initially chose to go with God, but He showed her a vision of her own funeral on a grey drizzly day, with her in the casket and all her friends and family crying grey tears. When God asked if this was how she wanted to be remembered, she reconsidered. Three days later she woke up in the hospital, surprised to be alive. Her rights had been read to her upon arrival, indicating the severity of her condition. The experience eliminated her fear of dying but left her sometimes struggling with why she was kept here.
