Benny experienced cardiac arrest in the emergency room on July 17, 2006, with his heart stopped for 45 seconds. Upon losing consciousness, he immediately regained awareness in a multidimensional space, floating thousands of feet above a translucent blue and white tunnel. The surrounding space was warm soft sky blue with wisps of white light. The tunnel flowed upward, merging into beautiful blue and white light. He paused to observe his son's seventh birthday in complete detail. At this point he realized with absolute clarity that he had died, experiencing the most profound conscious awareness of his existence. He felt this was natural order, his soul separated from his dying body. He was content and moving rapidly toward the brighter light when he heard someone calling his name. His movement reversed at incredible speed, returning him through the tunnel to his body in the emergency room. The experience has strengthened his faith, brought him closer to God and church, and given him certainty about life after death. He has shared this with many, bringing them comfort about the afterlife.
