Bill was hit by a car as a child around September 1966. During the life-threatening event, he experienced an out-of-body state where he was looking down at the scene through what appeared like a kaleidoscope effect. From above, he observed two men in white (likely medical personnel), two police officers, and his mother, all bent over looking at a boy lying in the street. He could see an ambulance with its back doors open. While floating, he could see his own lower body, hands, and arms, and at the time it didn't seem out of place to be floating. There was complete silence during the experience - no sound at all. He felt puzzled during the experience and was not able to understand what was happening at the time. The experience involved no tunnel, light, or encounters with beings, but represented a clear separation from his physical body during a traumatic event.
