Araceli was crossing a street in February 1986 when she was struck by a jeep multiple times in what appeared to be a deliberate attempt to kill her. Witnesses reported she was hit twice and the driver attempted to run her over a third time. During the attack, she experienced an out-of-body perspective, floating above the scene with a silver cord connecting her to her physical body. She heard a commanding voice directing her to move her body into alignment between the vehicle's wheels, which saved her life. Despite the severity of the incident, she survived without fatal injuries or broken bones, which doctors considered miraculous.
After the accident, Araceli developed several unusual abilities. She became able to sense death approaching and developed a gift for helping barren women conceive through prayer, though with specific conditions - the women would be bedridden during pregnancy, require C-sections, and always have boys. She experienced heightened senses, particularly hearing, and required very little sleep.
