He interpreted this solitary figure as Jesus. The pull toward this figure was irresistible, and as he descended to take the offered hand, he heard his wife's voice saying "you better think about those boys" (referring to their two young sons). Immediately, he was "snatched away like a mail bag being grabbed by a hook on a locomotive" and slammed back into his body full of pain, fear, and hate. Steve emphasizes that while some say there's a choice to return, "God cheats" because the attraction to the divine presence is irresistible.
