Peter J experienced a near-death event in February 1990 after falling from the fourth floor in a suicide attempt. He was unconscious for 11 hours. During the NDE, Peter found himself floating above his body, watching his mother and neighbors gathered around him. His mother kissed him while crying, and he observed everything from above.
He then entered a tunnel with a brilliant white, blinding light at the left end. A person approached from the light exit and encouraged him to go toward it, communicating without words. To the right was an abysmal darkness that frightened him, yet he decided to explore it against the guidance of the being. The person in the light became restless and warned him they could not help him there, urging immediate return. Peter continued into the darkness where the tunnel grew increasingly narrow. He felt an oppressive presence, experiencing restlessness, disconcert, and unhappiness. The air became heavy with a stench. When he tried to return, the tunnel seemed filled with weeds and branches, forcing him to crawl backwards on his knees while praying aloud. Eventually reaching the wider part of the tunnel, he ran toward the light. The guiding person was gone initially but reappeared in the distance, happy and joyful, making Peter understand he should stay where he was - neither going toward the being nor toward the darkness.
