Oscar underwent gastric bypass surgery that went badly, requiring a second operation. He went into a coma from complete septicemia with all vital organs failing - breathing, heart, kidneys, liver, pancreas, and lungs stopped functioning. He was given last rites during Holy Week and family said goodbyes. He spent 45 days in intensive care. During his coma, Oscar floated outside his body and was absorbed by a dark vortex with rays of light. He moved rapidly through this tunnel accompanied by his father who died in 1991. At the tunnel's end was a magnificent door that slowly opened, revealing powerful light. He heard voices saying "Oscar, don't die. Come back" and returned through the same tunnel. Upon waking in his hospital bed, he saw 6-7 men in white tunics of advanced years around his bed who spoke to him. His wife later told him she made spiritual connections with astral physicians for healing, but confirmed no physical visitors in white came. Oscar is a Mason who sought truth through reason but found this experience beyond logical rationality.
