Marisol suffered a severe car accident in 1991 when an Isuzu Trooper struck her Nissan. The passenger seat broke free and hit her head, requiring hydraulic shears to extract her from the vehicle. She went into cardiac and respiratory arrest with weak vital signs and dilated pupils. After resuscitation with electroshock, she remained in a three-week coma at the Medical Center in San Juan, later requiring two eye surgeries for diplopia.
During her coma, Marisol found herself in a completely dark tunnel without a floor, floating and hearing distant, incomprehensible voices like soft library conversation. An incredible scent of red roses filled the space. She saw a small light at the tunnel's end and began trying to reach it, raising her hands in prayer: "Lord, my soul praises and glorifies you. Help me God. I want to get to the light and I can't." An angel then appeared, intensifying the rose scent, speaking in a perfect tone with breath smelling of roses, saying: "Daughter, do not worry. You have chosen the correct path." Approaching the light, Marisol entered it like throwing herself into a void. Everything became brilliantly white with extreme clarity. She saw clouds, birds, and a beautiful garden with flowers. At a large closed door, a venerable man in white approached and told her: "Daughter, NO. It is not your time yet. You have to go back. There are things left for you to accomplish." She suddenly felt breathless and was pushed back, feeling chest pain as her mother touched her, beginning her return to earth. The experience profoundly transformed Marisol. Initially unable to walk, write, or retain information according to doctors, she overcame all predictions through determination. She now drives, writes, completed education school, and values life more intensely. She became more sensitive to others' pain, developed greater patience and tolerance, and strengthened her Catholic Charismatic faith. She also reports gaining precognitive abilities and continues sharing her experience with others in church and personal settings. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The angel encounter aligns perfectly with biblical accounts of angelic messengers. The tunnel and light imagery parallels many biblical near-death visions. The garden setting evokes Eden or Paradise. Being told "it's not your time" and having unfinished purpose reflects divine sovereignty over life and death. The transformative effects - increased faith, sensitivity to others, and testimony-sharing - demonstrate spiritual fruit. The rose scent could represent the "fragrance of Christ" (2 Corinthians 2:15). Unbiblical elements: The development of precognitive abilities (foreseeing future events) after the NDE is problematic from a biblical perspective, as divination and fortune-telling are prohibited in scripture (Deuteronomy 18:10-12). However, if these are understood as divine revelations rather than occult practices, they could align with biblical prophecy. The experience itself contains no anti-biblical elements.
