On June 10, 1986, Leta gave birth to an 8-pound 6-ounce baby who literally tore her apart, requiring over 80 stitches to repair the damage. Despite massive blood loss, nothing was immediately done. An hour and a half after delivery, a nurse taking vital signs could not find blood pressure or heartbeat with multiple stethoscopes, prompting removal of Leta's mother from the room while Leta remained conscious before losing awareness.
During clinical death, Leta experienced falling through a black tunnel before arriving at brilliantly beautiful white light unlike any earthly color or light type. Upon reaching the light, a warm masculine voice she never saw welcomed her, asking if she knew where she was. Initially confused, she suddenly realized she was in heaven but frantically pleaded to return, explaining she had just had a baby and her husband knew nothing about babies.
