At age 3-4, Lizzette developed severe whooping cough while staying with relatives in Lancaster, California. Her parents rushed her to the hospital as she repeatedly lost consciousness from the severe coughing preventing her from breathing. Upon arrival at the hospital, she experienced clinical death requiring resuscitation.
During the NDE, Lizzette found herself in a dark tunnel, initially observing herself from behind before becoming herself and walking toward a brilliant light. At the tunnel's edge, she emerged into a realm with the bluest sky and beautiful green rolling hills. A being seated on a translucent yet solid throne, radiating pure light like the sun, called her forward. This being wore white garments with a face of pure radiating light, accompanied by several beings standing at attention on both sides. The being communicated telepathically that she had to return as it was not her time, showing her a vision of herself as an adult indicating she would have a full life. She instantly returned to her body after understanding the message. This experience profoundly impacted her childhood, causing her to constantly contemplate existence and occasionally see spirits and have prophetic dreams about people's deaths. She kept the experience private until seeing Dr. Moody's documentary about NDEs five years before submitting her account, when she finally understood what had happened to her. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The experience contains several elements consistent with biblical accounts including a brilliant divine light reminiscent of God's glory, a throne scene similar to Revelation, beings in white garments matching descriptions of heavenly beings, and divine communication about it not being her time to die. The transcendent realm with perfect beauty aligns with biblical descriptions of heaven, and the message about having a full life ahead reflects divine sovereignty over human lifespan. Unbiblical elements: The narrative includes some problematic elements such as ongoing ability to see spirits after the NDE, which could be interpreted as mediumship or occult practice warned against in scripture. The prophetic dreams about deaths, while potentially a spiritual gift, blur into fortune-telling territory. The being on the throne, while majestic, is not explicitly identified as God or Jesus, leaving room for ambiguity about the encounter's nature.
