On May 3, 1969, during a Vietnam War patrol, a 22-year-old soldier was riding as gunner on an armored personnel carrier when a large anti-tank mine detonated directly beneath him. He was catapulted upward with everyone and everything else. Time decelerated dramatically, then stopped completely at the apex of his trajectory. He experienced a profound state of consciousness where the entire universe collapsed to a single Center - Pure Consciousness that illuminates all things. He understood this as God Himself, feeling overwhelming bliss, love, and compassion with a powerful sense of déjà vu. His life was reviewed in great detail, all at once but nonjudgmentally.
