Karoline A experienced a near-death event during gallbladder surgery in April 1991 when she had a severe allergic reaction to Penicillin. She stopped breathing on the operating table, causing a life-threatening medical crisis that required immediate intervention.
During her NDE, Karoline reported leaving her body and encountering a "big white angel" who was ready to take her away. From an elevated perspective near the ceiling, she observed her body lying on the operating table with doctors working frantically to save her. She could see the entire surgical scene, including where everyone was positioned, what instruments were being used, and their exact locations in the operating room. The angel asked if she wanted to stay or go with her, and Karoline chose to return, stating she wasn't ready to leave yet. The veridical aspects of her experience were particularly striking. She accurately observed the surgical procedures and equipment placement while unconscious. When she awakened and asked her doctor if she had stopped breathing during surgery, he confirmed this was true and was amazed when she described exactly where everyone had been standing and what instruments had been used. Upon returning to her body, she felt wonderful and described the out-of-body experience as unlike anything she had ever experienced in her life. The doctor warned her that Penicillin was potentially fatal for her and to never allow anyone to administer it again. Following this experience, Karoline reported having more experiences with angels and stronger spiritual connections. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The experience contains several elements consistent with biblical accounts of supernatural encounters.
