Grace experienced severe hemorrhaging in 1945 and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance when her mother couldn't stop the bleeding. Doctors worked extensively to stabilize her during a life-threatening situation. During her NDE, she floated out of her body and could see both parents in the waiting room with her mother crying. She was then pulled into a tunnel with a bright white light, experiencing complete peace without fear. Her grandmother, who had recently passed away and whom she had disliked for being mean to her, appeared and stopped her progression. The grandmother told her she must go back as she had many things not yet done, stating it was not her time. Grace then saw the doctors still working on her before returning to her body. One doctor later questioned her extensively about what she had seen during the experience, showing medical interest in her NDE even in 1945. She had another brief OBE experience recently where doctors brought her back quickly, but was disappointed not to see the tunnel or white light again. The experience left her unafraid of death.
