At age six in 1980, Erika fell off a wash basin and struck her head on a bathroom heater. Simultaneously, a water glass from a shelf broke between the floor and her head, creating a life-threatening situation with head trauma and broken glass. The traumatic injury caused her to lose consciousness immediately after the impact.
During her unconscious state, she experienced a profound out-of-body journey. She found herself walking along a pathway of stones, accompanied by someone who held her hand. The companion wore a white tunic, and she walked on his left side. Together they moved toward a resplendent, very white light. Throughout this journey, she felt no fear, only peace and a sense of being guided. She could not see the face of her companion but was aware of his protective presence. The most significant aspect was her observation of the pathway and the brilliant white light they were approaching. She maintained clear visual awareness of the stone path beneath her feet and the luminous destination ahead. The experience had a quality of heightened reality, with vivid sensory details of the path and light. She noted the specific position of walking on the left side of her white-robed companion. The experience ended abruptly when she heard her mother's voice calling her. Upon hearing this earthly summons, she turned back and immediately awakened, returning to physical consciousness. The experience left her with lasting memories and possible hearing loss in one ear, though she cannot confirm if the hearing loss resulted from the accident. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The experience strongly aligns with biblical imagery of the afterlife. The white-robed figure guiding her recalls biblical descriptions of angels in white garments (Mark 16:5, Acts 1:10). The pathway of stones suggests the narrow path to life mentioned by Jesus in Matthew 7:14. The brilliant white light corresponds to descriptions of God's glory and the light of heaven (Revelation 21:23). The peaceful, fearless state during the journey reflects Isaiah 43:1, "Fear not, for I have redeemed you." The companion holding her hand echoes Psalm 73:23, "You hold me by my right hand." Unbiblical elements: The second experience she describes involving visions triggered by music, seeing a car accident, and feeling physical sensations appears more psychic in nature and less aligned with biblical accounts. However, this appears to be a separate phenomenon from her childhood NDE. The NDE itself contains no explicitly unbiblical elements such as reincarnation, universal salvation, or new age concepts.
