Between ages three to five in the late 1960s or early 1970s, Edwin suffered from severe asthma attacks requiring emergency room visits almost every night. During one particular episode, he was rushed to the hospital where many doctors and nurses worked on him frantically. There was a sense of urgency as he stopped breathing, with medical staff in panic. He had a tube in his mouth with a funnel on the end, and doctors were pouring something into it while speaking with raised, urgent voices.
Edwin's spirit rose to the ceiling of the hospital room, where he observed his body lying on a very high bed with all the medical staff working on him. Despite being a small child, he could see the entire room from an elevated perspective, including a wall division with a small window on the door. His family was on the other side of the wall, crying and fighting for position to look through the window at him. He stood on the floor yet could see high up onto the bed, higher than his normal height would allow. He calmly watched the frantic activity below. As he rose higher, he felt sad about his family's distress, but the sadness diminished as he elevated. He saw a pleasant light above and the entire ceiling became the sky with a trail of light leading upward. A Being stopped him - though no words were exchanged, everything was understood through feelings. He sensed this was a male figure whose face he couldn't see due to increasing brightness. The Being either gave him a choice to stay or go, or told him it wasn't his time (he cannot remember clearly which). He saw lots of colors like a rainbow as he approached the Being. He felt he didn't want his family to suffer his loss. His brother later provided partial confirmation that something serious happened to him that day, though he refused to discuss details. Edwin has never feared death and has always believed in the afterlife since this experience. He believes he was sent back for a purpose, though he doesn't yet know what that purpose is. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The out-of-body experience watching medical intervention aligns with biblical accounts of spirit-body separation (2 Corinthians 12:2-3).
