At age 19, Tee was involved in a severe car accident in New York City. Seven people were crammed into a VW bug when a large black car traveling at 55mph ran a red light and broadsided them. Tee was partially ejected through the windshield and became entangled in the wreckage. She was pronounced dead at the scene and later revived. During her clinical death, she experienced complete nothingness - no sensory input, no spatial relationship, no ability to think or reason, like black paint running down glass. She then felt submerged under "heavy black water" of a color that doesn't exist, feeling suffocated and unable to breathe. She instinctively knew this was associated with death and fought desperately to "swim upward" to escape. Suddenly her hearing returned and she could hear rescue workers shouting "Is she free on that side? Hurry, it's gonna blow, get her out NOW!!! It's burning bad" as they tried to extract her before the car exploded. She heard her friend screaming about her mother being a judge and threatening to sue everyone. She heard a drunk man ask "She's cute, what is wrong with her? Is she dead, yet?" She went into cardiac arrest in the ambulance, hearing them say "she's crashing..."
