During a routine tonsillectomy at age 9, SW experienced severe bleeding and lost her pulse for 4 minutes, turning blue before being resuscitated. During her clinical death, she recalled traveling through beautiful misty blue veils toward a brilliant light at the end of a tunnel-like space. The experience felt fun and pleasant as she moved toward the light. She believed God was speaking to her during the experience, feeling a divine presence communicating directly with her consciousness. When she wanted to cross through the final veil to reach the light, she was told by the Voice that she could not, that it was too early for her to cross over. Despite her disappointment at being denied entry, she understood she had to return to her body. She was also told of her life's purpose during the experience, but frustratingly cannot remember what that purpose was. The experience permanently eliminated her fear of death and fundamentally changed her perspective on life. She describes herself as highly sensitive and attuned to the emotional and mystical content of life since the NDE. The experience made her feel like a visitor to this world, more concerned with spirit and soul than the material 3D world.
