Charlie went to the doctor on a Monday evening in July 1975 and was sent to the hospital for emergency surgery the next day for a ruptured appendix and possible peritonitis. He heard his grandmother say "Go to sleep now" and felt himself falling into his body while hearing what sounded like a metal trash can being struck by a million volts of electricity. He felt the atoms of his body buzzing and vibrating. His eyes popped open as the nurse entered with a syringe, but he told her to get out and looked for his grandmother who was no longer there. Charlie also mentioned a prior experience in 1970 while in the US Army when he heard his grandmother's voice warn him to leave an area where he was standing.
