Bryan has experienced multiple NDEs throughout his life, beginning at age 8 when he nearly choked to death jumping a fence. His most recent and intense experiences occurred at ages 36-37 following post-surgery complications. He describes a consistent pattern: his back locks up opposite the solar plexus, paralysis runs down his legs and up through his shoulders and arms, followed by a high-pitched shrill in his ears and loss of vision before release from the body. He traveled up an inverted hurricane tunnel spinning counter-clockwise, filled with brilliant neon sunset colors and fire flames that did not burn. At the top, he entered a globe-like room with twelve portals (which he identifies as the twelve gates) where his life pictures flashed in three categories: eighteen good experiences, eighteen bad deeds, and eighteen nature scenes. The room had walls of brilliant water-like colors and a golden triangle ceiling from which the brightest light emanated. Star-like beings swam through the dense light, creating reverberating waves of love when they collided - the greatest love he ever experienced. Each NDE ended abruptly with a painful fall back into his body. These experiences have made him more detached from earthly life, calling them a "heavenly blessing but earthly curse."
--- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The experience includes clear death of the individual with systematic bodily shutdown, out-of-body travel through a tunnel toward divine light, encounter with a structured heavenly realm featuring twelve gates (matching Revelation 21:12-13), a golden triangle suggesting the Trinity, beings of light resembling angels described as stars (consistent with biblical symbolism), and a life review showing good and bad deeds. The profound divine love and the architectural perfection of the heavenly city align with biblical descriptions of the New Jerusalem. Unbiblical elements: The structured categorization of exactly eighteen items in three categories (good, bad, nature) appears formulaic rather than biblical. References to "star beings" swimming in light, while poetic, lean toward new age imagery. The mechanical, predictable pattern of the NDE process and the recurring nature without lasting transformation suggests a more naturalistic than supernatural phenomenon. The detachment from earthly life as a "curse" contradicts biblical teaching about purposeful earthly existence.
