Bobby was leaving an art show on December 2, 2000, when she was struck by a car in an intersection. The driver, distracted by Christmas decorations, hit Bobby at full force on her left knee, throwing her approximately 70 feet. Bobby experienced the impact in slow motion while simultaneously observing from above. During her unconscious state, she saw the rooftops of City Hall and other buildings from an elevated perspective, including the library behind trees that should have been hidden from ground level.
She felt no pain or fear, only calm and serenity. When she regained consciousness, she was sitting upright, surprising witnesses who thought she was dead. The main witness had jumped from his vehicle with a blanket to cover what he believed was a corpse. A nurse witness immediately called an ambulance expecting the worst. Hospital examination revealed multiple breaks, fractures, joint dislocations, internal bleeding, and numerous contusions. Bobby saw her son's shocked face at their home's front door and worried about who would tell him of her death. She experienced incredible peace and felt assured all would be well. The elevated perspective and impossible vantage points suggest an out-of-body experience during the traumatic event. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The experience contains classic NDE elements found in biblical accounts - separation from the physical body, supernatural peace during trauma, and heightened awareness. The concern for her son reflects biblical themes of maternal love and family bonds that transcend death. The impossible vantage point from above aligns with accounts of spiritual vision. Her survival of what witnesses deemed a fatal accident could be seen as divine protection. Unbiblical elements: None identified. The experience lacks any elements that contradict biblical teaching. While it doesn't include explicit religious imagery, the profound peace and out-of-body observations are consistent with biblical accounts of spiritual experiences during life-threatening situations.
