Saundra V experienced clinical death in summer 1969 during a severe lupus (SLE) flare-up. She had been hospitalized for two weeks with debilitating symptoms and was told she needed three more weeks of treatment. Unable to bear separation from her two toddlers, she convinced her husband to take her home against medical advice. At home, her condition worsened dramatically with excruciating chest and spine pain that literally took her breath away. She became increasingly drowsy and knew she was losing consciousness and dying, calling for her husband to contact a minister she had recently met.
Upon clinical death, she found herself no longer in her body, initially thinking she was dreaming. She was bewildered to find herself above the earth, surrounded by huge moving clouds, where she heard the most gloriously beautiful heavenly chorus she had ever experienced. The angelic voices sang tremendous hymns replete with "Hallelujahs" and "Glorias," and remarkably, she found herself singing along as if she had known these songs before. When she suddenly realized she was dead, she became very frightened, not wanting to leave her babies or this life. Despite the beauty of the experience, she cried out to God, whom she KNEW was there, begging not to die and expressing her concern for her children. God answered her telepathically with the exact words: "Don't be afraid, you will not die, you will live, and you will live to be with your children." Immediately after these words, she was back in her body as if awakening from deep sleep. All the horrible symptoms - the pain, difficulty breathing, and deadly weakness that had plagued her for weeks - were completely gone. She shared the experience immediately with her husband and in-laws, who came expecting her to be bedridden but found her recovered. The healing was permanent; she never experienced such severe symptoms again. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: This experience contains numerous biblical elements.
