Richard H was traveling down the DaNang River in Vietnam in August 1968 when his Am track hit a booby-trapped 500-pound round. He was unconscious for a week and clinically died twice - first for 21 minutes, then for 24 minutes. During his first death, his soul separated from his body and he observed doctors and nurses trying to revive him from above, experiencing relief, peace, and happiness. He saw a bright light and was in an extremely bright place where he felt joined by those who loved him. A penetrating voice told him he needed to change how he was dealing with his life.
During his second near-death experience, Richard reached what he calls "The Plane of All Knowing" where all puzzles of life unraveled and he understood everything. This second experience was more instructive and purposeful, changing him from being "hell bent on destruction to being creative, peaceful, and helping those who are unable." He experienced time as non-existent during both episodes, and knowledge was generated directly into his soul without traditional language. The medical team successfully resuscitated him both times, with documented periods of clinical death lasting 21 and 24 minutes respectively.
