Polina, age 4, was playing with her grandmother in a pool, jumping into her arms. During one jump, she fell short and went underwater in the deep pool. Unable to swim, her mouth and lungs filled with water as she sank. She then experienced leaving her body and watching her lifeless form settle on the pool floor. She felt no distress observing this, only happiness, lightness, wonder and peace. She remembers flying over the city and seeing the building with the pool from a great height. She wanted to leave her body permanently but felt forcefully pulled back when her grandmother grabbed her body and pulled her to the surface. She coughed up water and felt annoyed at being brought back, having experienced such freedom outside her body.
The experience included clear out-of-body perception where she observed her own body underwater from an external vantage point. She also reported an aerial view of the city and building, suggesting distant observation capabilities. The emotional response was overwhelmingly positive with feelings of peace, freedom and reluctance to return. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The experience contains a clear out-of-body experience, one of Tabatt's nine core NDE elements. The sense of leaving the physical body and existing in a non-physical state aligns with biblical concepts of the soul/spirit being distinct from the body. The aerial perspective and ability to observe from outside the body reflects the spiritual nature described in scripture. The feelings of peace and lightness could correspond to descriptions of spiritual states. Unbiblical elements: None identified. The experience does not contain any references to reincarnation, universal salvation, new age concepts, or other elements that would contradict biblical theology. The child's simple description focuses on the phenomenological aspects without theological interpretation.
