Pascal attempted suicide in January 1989 by overdosing on pills, then went to confront God at a church during a winter storm. Collapsing in the snow, he struggled home where the overdose took full effect. After agonizing physical symptoms, he experienced a profound calm and found himself flying through stars toward a point at the end of the universe. A calm, faceless entity with womanly ways pulled him back, telling him he had a mission to fulfill. He was brought before a council of seven or nine light beings who reminded him of his chosen earthly mission. They told him answers would come in due time and sent him back. The experience profoundly affected his spiritual journey and understanding of life's purpose.
