PJ experienced two distinct OBEs during life-threatening situations. The first occurred at age 17 when she fainted from severe menstrual cramps and struck her head on a metal desk rim. She was pulled out of her body from behind and found herself outside the school building, elevated and observing from across the street. She witnessed students during class change with vivid colors and heightened awareness, able to telescope her vision and sense their thoughts and feelings. She was then pulled back through the classroom window into her body. The second OBE occurred during childbirth when she stopped breathing under anesthesia. She again found herself outside the hospital, observing traffic, pedestrians, and the partly cloudy afternoon sky with perfect clarity. Both experiences featured extraordinary vividness, peaceful awareness, and a heavy, sluggish feeling upon return to the body.
--- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: Both experiences involved clear out-of-body states with consciousness existing separate from the physical body. The peaceful awareness and heightened perception align with biblical accounts of spiritual vision. The ability to perceive others' thoughts and feelings reflects a spiritual rather than physical mode of perception. The experiences reinforced her spiritual-minded nature. Unbiblical elements: PJ expresses interest in reincarnation despite noting her psychic abilities like clairvoyant dreams. She questions whether experiences are truly spiritual or brain-based mechanisms, showing uncertainty about the spiritual nature of the events. No encounter with divine beings or spiritual realms beyond earthly observation.
