Monik J experienced an NDE due to complications during surgery in October 1972. An artery burst when the surgeon attempted to remove an organ, causing a hemorrhage that filled her stomach. She went into cardiac arrest and was clinically dead for 8 minutes. Medical staff placed her on an artificial respirator, drained her lungs and stomach, and successfully resuscitated her.
During her clinical death, Monik had an out-of-body experience where she observed her inert body on the operating table covered with cloth. She had difficulty recognizing herself initially. She heard a noise like a broken motor coming from the direction of the anesthesiologist. The experience included darkness followed by a steamy white light that allowed her to see everywhere. She describes passing quickly through what might have been a tunnel, seeing the scene in black and white. Monik felt she had died but experienced no danger, instead feeling quickly detached from her suffering body. She gained understanding that death is not truly death but rather a metamorphosis of the body. The experience left her without fear of death, understanding it as a transformation rather than an ending. Since her NDE, Monik has developed psychic abilities including precognitive feelings about future events, communication with "the other side," and receiving warnings about potentially tragic or disruptive events. She also experiences astral travel and notes that her experience can be triggered by certain physical sensations, such as hearing murmurs similar to those who brought her back from clinical death. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The out-of-body experience and observation of her physical body align with biblical accounts of the spirit separating from the body at death.
