Joel B experienced clinical death from nitrogen gas poisoning in September 1973 while cleaning wine tanks at Gallo Wineries. He entered a tank mistakenly marked safe that was actually filled with nitrogen gas, which displaced all oxygen from his lungs within three minutes. He collapsed unconscious and was struck by the loose high-pressure hose. Joel experienced traveling through a long tunnel at high speed toward a bright light. Upon emerging from the tunnel, he found himself floating in white light without borders, feeling profound peace and warmth. He encountered Jesus wearing a white robe "dripping in pure gold" and felt completely safe and at home. Jesus spoke to him about his life and future, telling him he had to return as it wasn't his time and he had more to accomplish. Jesus pointed back to the tunnel and Joel immediately traveled back through it.
