Gina CH experienced clinical death from sepsis on June 20, 2003. She was unaware of the severity of her condition, being full of sepsis when she lost consciousness. The paramedics reported losing her vital signs, stating "we lost her" as they worked to resuscitate her. Her experience was predominantly frightening and dark, contrasting with many typical NDE accounts.
During her clinical death, Gina found herself in complete darkness that was cold and terrifying. She described it as the worst possible feeling one could imagine - being frozen in her body, unable to see or talk, though she could hear her children screaming and crying. She heard the paramedics announce they had lost her. She then began moving through a tunnel of darkness that was very cold and uninviting, filled with what she described as a feeling of evil. She felt herself trying to physically grab others to take with her, though she couldn't move. In this dark place, she began praying intensely, begging and pleading with God for another chance to prove herself, bargaining for her life. She specifically begged not to die in front of her young children and pleaded for God's mercy. When the paramedics successfully brought her back, she was numb, terrified, yet relieved. The experience left her with lasting trauma - she continues to dream about it and has difficulty coping with what happened. She noted that despite always considering herself a good person and a Christian, the experience made her feel she needed to prove herself more.
