In October 1969, Debora E's heart stopped from anesthesia during surgery. She floated to the ceiling and observed her body on the operating table while doctors expressed alarm, saying they were losing her. She was accompanied by kind beings she believed were angels who told her not to worry. She heard a whooshing sound and was propelled through a dark tunnel toward a light, surrounded by singing angels.
At the tunnel's end, she was bathed in bright, warm, serene light and felt safe and loved. A beautiful woman who seemed to know and love her held out her hand. Debora heard a conversation between the angels and a voice from the light stating it wasn't her time because she hadn't had her children yet. Despite wanting to stay, she was sent back. The woman promised she would return someday and see her then. Years later, when shown a photo of her paternal grandmother who died giving birth to her father, Debora recognized her as the woman from her NDE - having never seen her picture before. Most remarkably, she met and was guided by her paternal grandmother who died in childbirth - later verified through photo identification despite never having seen her picture previously.
