Cynthia experienced a ruptured tubal (ectopic) pregnancy requiring emergency surgery on September 29, 2002. In the emergency room, she heard a nurse express reluctance to take a "crashing patient" to surgery alone. She watched her blood pressure dropping on the monitor before losing consciousness, coming to again in the surgery room.
Before surgery, Cynthia was terrified and crying, telling the doctor she was afraid she wouldn't wake up. The doctor acknowledged her critical condition, saying "You are very, very sick and need to go to sleep so I can help you." After losing significant blood during the procedure, she had her near-death experience. During the NDE, Cynthia felt as if she was lying down but with nothing beneath her, surrounded by darkness but feeling no fear. She experienced complete peace with no worldly pains, either emotional or physical. To the right side of her legs, she sensed a doorway with a male presence just beyond it. Though she didn't see him, she clearly felt and heard him - not through her ears but through direct knowing. The deep male voice told her she had a choice to stay or go. Suddenly feeling urgency, she declared "No! Robert needs me!" and immediately felt herself jerk back into her body. When Cynthia regained consciousness, a nurse approached her asking who Robert was (her boyfriend). The nurse explained that the medical team had been very concerned because Cynthia was critically ill when suddenly she yelled at the top of her lungs "No Robert needs me!" which startled them. Her recovery was remarkably rapid, with her doctor amazed at how quickly she healed. The experience left her with spontaneous knowledge, such as correctly knowing angels are neither male nor female without prior study. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The experience of being given a choice reflects biblical free will.
