This poignant NDE was recounted to missionary William Charles Willoughby by a young man in his service. The NDE was triggered by profound emotional distress - deep grief over his brother's death that manifested as life-threatening physical illness. He was so depressed with grief that his physical health declined to a critical point. During this state of emotional and physical collapse, his consciousness left his body and journeyed to the spirit world. He described having went away to the spirit realm where he was reunited with his recently deceased brother for whom he was grieving. The reunion extended beyond his brother - he also saw his deceased father and uncle, indicating a gathering of his male lineage in the afterlife. His uncle took on the role of spiritual guide and authority, acknowledging his grief but redirecting focus to earthly duties. The uncle's message was clear: he should not leave his mother, and therefore must return. His responsibility to his living mother superseded his desire to be with deceased relatives. The spirits consciously sent him back to fulfill familial obligations. He stated they sent me back with great peace. The experience had profound therapeutic effect - the great peace resolved his debilitating grief. He revived with renewed purpose and new life, transformed by his NDE.
