Virginia Rivers experienced an NDE during a near-fatal bout with pneumonia while hospitalized in 1986. Extremely weak with high fever and difficulty breathing, she lost consciousness after crying out for help. She found herself in a black void, then at the center of the universe with stars forming a tunnel around her. As she moved forward, she received vast amounts of knowledge in words and idea blocks, feeling her mind expanding like a sponge. The knowledge felt familiar, as if she had known it before. She experienced magnificent colors and music of indescribable beauty. Reaching a pinpoint of light that grew larger, she arrived in the presence of God - a light emitting infinite love and beauty. She had total and absolute awareness, knowing answers to everything. God communicated telepathically about love and knowledge being the only things we can bring back after death. She was told she had to return to accomplish something specific. Despite her pleas to stay, she was sent back. The experience left her permanently transformed with absolute certainty of its reality.
