Sally, of Mexican descent, experienced severe hemorrhaging ten days after giving birth to her youngest child. During the ambulance ride to the hospital, she felt herself floating above the ambulance even as her body remained inside. In the emergency room, attempts to stop the bleeding failed and she was classified as high risk for surgery. Her doctor warned she might not survive the procedure due to severe blood loss.
Before anesthesia was administered, Sally left her body and could see it below on the bed. She observed her mother weeping on her stepfather's shoulder and another man shaking his head. Suddenly she found herself in the most beautiful Golden Light, feeling completely loved, calm, peaceful and happy beyond words. She experienced the Golden Light all around and within her with no separation whatsoever. She felt love, compassion, understanding and knowledge, recognizing this as her true home. She then saw beautiful flowers and walked a beautiful path with someone in a brown robe on her right side. They walked up a mountain surrounded by incredible beauty and flowers she had never seen before. The experience lasted an undetermined time before she suddenly returned to her body and opened her eyes to a worried nurse. Sally was extremely angry about returning, wanting to be left alone in the Light. Following the NDE, Sally felt split between two selves - angry and depressed about being back while knowing her children needed her. She remained strange and different for six months, crying frequently and having no one who understood her experience. Medical professionals dismissed it as dreams or medication effects. The experience left her struggling with integration but profoundly grateful for the continuing comfort of the Golden Light's memory. She no longer fears death and feels the light strongly within her always.
