Craig experienced an NDE during a rafting accident when he was trapped underwater by a waterfall's force. Pinned face-down in sand with no hope of escape, he began losing consciousness as his air supply dwindled. His mind accelerated and he experienced a panoramic life review, seeing scenes from infancy through the present with remarkable clarity, including forgotten memories of throwing food as a baby and a traumatic boating accident at age seven.
After the images ceased and darkness came, Craig felt a tingling sensation spreading through his body, his heart stopped, and he no longer needed air. He then moved through a dark void at tremendous speed toward a pinpoint of light that grew larger until it engulfed him. Within the light, he felt all-knowing, experienced total harmony, and understood everything made perfect sense. He could expand and contract his energy form at will and felt bathed in total love and understanding. Floating above the river afterward, Craig saw his body below, observed his friend Don clutching a rock, and tried unsuccessfully to communicate. He could see with perfect clarity - the waterfall, snow, streets, and a playground. He experimented with entering natural elements before encountering a transparent elderly figure who showed him his life as a timeline and the consequences if he died. The entity emphasized love and cooperation over competition and told Craig this place would always be waiting. After choosing to return, Craig shot back into his body with tremendous energy. The experience eliminated Craig's fear of death completely. He now appreciates life's preciousness, values love above material things, and seeks knowledge. Ten years later, his major dream of opening for Arlo Guthrie came true, exactly as mentioned during his NDE, though he realized what he truly wanted was to touch hearts through music.
