Heather, a British mother, underwent life-threatening surgery during which she experienced a profound near-death event. The surgical complications created a crisis situation requiring immediate medical intervention.
During the crisis, Heather found herself standing beside her body, observing a thin, wispy cord connecting her to her physical form. A companion presence made her feel secure and encouraged her to trust, suggesting the cord was insignificant. She was guided toward "the light" through a void where she experienced weightlessness. She was met by "beings of light" who gently encouraged her toward a life review. During this review, her actions were not judged by others - she judged herself. Her companion presence could see into her mind with no possibility of hiding thoughts. She was made to understand how her mistakes hurt others by experiencing what they had felt. She came to understand she was "in that place where the newly dead move on to." Heather's veridical observations included seeing herself from outside her body with a connecting cord, experiencing complete weightlessness and travel through a void, encountering multiple beings of light who guided her process, and gaining direct experiential knowledge of others' pain from her actions. She experienced complete mental transparency where no thoughts could be hidden. Most significantly, she felt profound remorse for missed opportunities where she could have positively affected others but didn't follow through. The experience transformed Heather's approach to life. She now hates doing any harm to others, having directly felt the pain she had caused. She recognizes that the most important thing in life is taking opportunities to assist others, even when difficult.
