In 1977, Mohammed, then 26 years old, was driving home at 2 AM to visit family in Iran when he collided head-on with a car that had crossed into his lane. Critically injured, he was transported by bus to a small hospital. Initially conscious and in unbearable pain, he noticed a young nurse, approximately 22 years old, whom he found beautiful and wished he could speak with. His condition deteriorated and he eventually lost consciousness.
Suddenly Mohammed experienced a shift where deep calm and peace engulfed him, opposite to his previous anger and pain. He found himself seeing in 360 degrees around the nurse, as if he had completely engulfed her. He became aware of her thoughts and feelings, sensing her sadness and worry about the young man dying. He tried to tell her he was fine and had never felt better, but she could not hear him. Following her gaze, he saw a young man's body on the bed and was shocked to realize it was his own. Mohammed observed the entire hospital scene with 360-degree vision and could perceive the nurse's thoughts about how sad it was that this young man was dying. He attempted to communicate that he felt wonderful but realized she could not perceive him. His confusion about seeing someone who looked exactly like him led him to wonder if he had a twin brother before realizing he was observing his own body and that he must be dead. The experience left Mohammed with a profound sense that everything was exactly as it should be, transforming his previous anger into perfect acceptance and peace. His ability to perceive thoughts and see in all directions simultaneously demonstrated enhanced consciousness during clinical death.
