C.D. experienced an NDE during surgery for a blood clot in her head in 1978. She left her body and observed doctors working on her from above. She then traveled rapidly through a beautifully colored tunnel and entered a realm of wonderful, warm light. At a bridge, she encountered multiple deceased family members including her father who had died less than a year prior. He greeted her warmly saying "Hi Mija" and was proud to show her to other smiling relatives surrounded by light. After some time, a voice declared it wasn't her time and she had things to do. Her father's expression turned sad as she was sent back against her will, crying and protesting. She returned through the tunnel instantly back to her body. The experience gave her certainty that God is real and that deceased loved ones are in a better place. She developed abilities to sense spirits and discern good from bad in people. Her mother later confirmed she had mentioned seeing her grandmother upon waking, though the experience was never discussed with her directly.
